The locals warmly say, “Bon bini na Aruba!” in their local Parliament language to welcome visitors to their slice of golf paradise on the Caribbean island of Aruba.

As I left the baggage claim at the modern Reina Beatrix Airport in the capital city of Oranjestad, I received my first “Bon bini!” The greeting came from Bethany Swonson and Jonathan Boekhoudt, who were working with the Aruba Tourism Authority and would be my hosts for the 19th Aruba International Pro-Am Golf Tournament at the world-class Tierra del Sol Spa, Resort & Country Club.

The International Pro-Am showcased the challenging and scenic Tierra del Sol golf course. Designed in 1995 by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II and situated on the scenic northwest point of Aruba near the famous California Lighthouse landmark, Tierra del Sol is an 18-hole championship venue that stretches from 6,811 yards to 5,002.
