After a BA from Amherst College and an MALS from Dartmouth College, Leigh spent 36 years as an English teacher and golf coach, 26 of them at The Westminster Schools, an independent academy in Atlanta. In 1986, he took a sabbatical from teaching to become an editor for Golf World, witnessing life inside the ropes under the tutelage of legendary golf journalists Dick Taylor and Ron Coffman.
Leigh used this introduction to join the golf writers’ fraternity upon his retirement from academics in May, 2007. His wife, Vicky, a professional photographer and media specialist until her retirement in 2007, takes almost all his pictures that accompany his articles.
He and Vicky are low-handicap golfers. They split their time between Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Plymouth, Mass.
Leigh is a member of the Golf Writers Association of America, the International Network of Golf, The Evergreen Club in Palm City, Fla., and Southers Marsh Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass.
